Wow, how did it get to be April already? Time is flying.
I have been a little naughty and treated myself to a couple of new stamp sets from the My Favourite Things April release. They arrived today and I love them so much I needed to play straight away.
I have used the sketch from the MFT Card Challenges blog:
And the colours from the Seven Hills Crafts April colour challenge:
I fell for the middle option, I love the vibrant colours contrasting with the greys.
The images and sentiment are from MFTstamps new set BB Cool Cat. I stamped the images in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, stamping the cat and vase first and masking them before stamping the cushion. The images are coloured using Spectrum Noir pens. I then placed a circular mask over the image, coming off the side of the card as in the sketch.
To create the background I used Distress Ink in Hickory Smoke, then stamped the pawprints in Memento Flannel Grey. To lift the background a bit I added the white dots with a gel pen.
For the sentiment, I wanted to create a strip that was the same colour as the cushion, so I used my Spectrum Noirs again to colour a scrap of card. The sentiment is stamped in Versamark and white heat embossed, and I have popped it up on foam tape for dimension.
At this stage I still felt like the card needed something to pull it together, so I trimmed off a small strip from the edge and added a strip of yellow, again coloured using a Spectrum Noir to match the main image.
I would also like to enter this card into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge where the theme is birthday cards to celebrate their 7th birthday!
