AAA Card Challenge # 115

Hi there!

I was incredibly excited to learn that I had been asked to be a Guest Designer for the AAA Card Challenge blog after one of my cards was chosen as an extra pick.  Take a look at that card here.

The theme for this new challenge is “Inspired By Nature”, and here is the inspiration photo:

#115

This was the perfect theme for me and I had so many ideas buzzing around my head (excuse the pun!).  One idea I couldn’t shake is that nature is amazing.

I instantly knew which stamp set I wanted to use and I even tried to recreate the inspiration photo, but I couldn’t quite get it right.  I had great fun playing though and eventually changed tack, and here is the card I came up with:

AAAcards guest design Inspired By Nature

To make this card I first stamped the outline of the dragonfly and then sponged through a mask to add the colour to the wings.  I did also add some sparkle with clear Wink of Stella but unfortunately you cannot see that in the photo.

I die cut the amazing 3 times and glued these together to create a stack, then sponged over with ink to coordinate with the image.  I inked this with Versamark and embossed with clear embossing ink, 3 times to create a ceramic look.  Once I had glued this to the card front, I simply stamped the rest of the sentiment.

I showed this to my little boy (he is two) and he said it was a butterfly.  I explained it was a dragonfly and he keeps roaring at the card!

There is lots of beautiful inspiration over at AAAcards, so head on over there to take a look.

  1. Congrats on being guest designer – the card that brought that about is the first one of yours I had seen, and I’m now following you! This dragonfly (love the roaring of your little boy!) card is stunning – and your idea of spongeing through a stencil for the wings really adds so much dimension and interest to the image. I love it!

  2. Stunning! The most perfect CAS card, totally rocked this challenge Christine. So adorable that your little boy roars at it! Thanks for being the most amazing Guest Designer at AAA Cards.

  3. Gorgeous card, Christine! I am in love with these colors and I may need to get that dragonfly stamp 🙂 Thanks for being a great guest designer.

  4. You are simply Amazing Christine! The dragon fly looks so ready to fly any time now. I simply love the combination of colors and how well the colors on the sentiment coordinate with the focal point. The clear embossing on the multi colored word die cut is a brilliant touch. The card truly looks inspired by nature. Thank you for playing along with us with this fabulous CAS card and guest designing for AAACards. Happy crafting. Hugs -Bharati
