I have always loved gift wrap and since I have started stamping, I have tried to make my own, to try to personalise it to that person, or to match it to the card I have made for them.
My lovely niece has a birthday coming up, and she has just attended her first Brentford football match, following in the family tradition. Brentford Football Club are also known as The Bees, which gave me the idea for this birthday card for her, using the gorgeous Dragonfly Dreams stamp set:
I created the background by inking up a clear block and pressing this onto the paper. I did this a couple of times to get the build up of colour I was looking for, and I was pleasantly surprised at the lovely texture this also created on the cardstock. I stamped the bee image over the square, and also stamped it onto a piece of plain card. Once I had stamped the layer on top, I fussy cut out this second bee, and then shaped it with my fingers. I used dimensionals to adhere this onto the card. For a bit of shimmer, I used a Wink Of Stella pen on the wings. I stamped the sentiment, and created a mat to sit behind it, but felt the card needed more, so I added in a piece of the hessian ribbon. A few sequins to finish, and the card was done.
I wanted to make a matching set, so I made some gift wrap by repeatedly stamping the bee image. I made this up into a gift bag, and finished off by wrapping it with the burlap ribbon and linen thread. Some simple stamping on the envelope finished off the set!
