Such a fab inspiration over at the Muse Card Challenge blog this week that I had to take part – check out the card by Bev Buenker:
The vibrant colours caught my eye, and I knew I wanted to use the polaroid shape and extend my image outside of the frame. The latest Time Out Challenge is to make a celebration card, with the added twist of using butterflies. With this in mind, my idea came together quite quickly.
I used my Silhouette to cut out the polaroid shape. Keeping the pieces together on the mat I stamped my Urban Stamps butterflies in Memento Tuxedo Black ink so that they extended beyond the frame of the polaroid. I then used Spectrum Noir pens to shade the butterflies using the colour pallet from Bev’s card, but I decided to leave the stamped images on the polaroid shape itself clean.
When piecing the card together onto the card blank I cut 6 more of the polaroid shape and layered them together with the stamped piece to add some dimension:
Once I had added the sentiment I felt the card was still missing something, so I used my Spectrum Noirs to colour some pearls and added these to the frame, to echo the sequins in the inspiration card.
This sounds like a lengthy process but it came together pretty quickly (I was happily watching the diving at the Commonwealth Games at the same time – don’t tell the husband I have been crafting downstairs!). I love the way it turned out and I will definitely recreate this card again with different images.
Please leave a comment, I would love to hear what you think, Cx
