Merry Monday #118

I was made up today when I saw that I had been given an honourable mention over at the Merry Monday Christmas Challenge blog (check out the winning card on this post).
There is a new challenge this week – to include a ribbon and button(s) on a card. Again, this is slightly out of my comfort zone as I have really being trying to ‘clean’ up my cards of late.  So here is my attempt:

snowflake tag

I cut two snowflakes from my Silhouette and coloured them with Distress Inks in Broken China and Chipped Sapphire.  I layered them at an offset with the darkest one behind to give the impression of a shadow, then decided the top snowflake needed something, so out came the Stickles.  I cut two different sizes of tag, shading one again with Distress Ink in Chipped Sapphire and then layered them up.  I added a ribbon then stitched on a button, running the stitching up the ribbon for a little added detail.

When it was all pieced together I felt the tag needed grounding on the card base so I added thin strips of coloured card, using Stickles again on the lighter shade.

I am not sure I love this card – I had an idea in my head when I started and I couldn’t make the card match but I think it still looks clean, despite the added embellishments.

Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think, Cx

  1. Congratulations on your HM with your shimmery sequiny snowflake flurry, Christine! This is lovely … the single extra layer and stickles adds so much dimension and texture to that lovely snowflake … and yes, it’s beautifully clean and crisp! Anita 🙂
