French Ribbon Board

Hi there!

So this weekend did not work out as planned.  It being a bank holiday in the UK the weather was supposed to be awful and I had planned a weekend of crafting.  As it turns out, the weather was beautiful and myself and my husband spent our time in the garden – I have planted out all of our hanging baskets and patio containers, whilst my husband has created a beautiful rockery in what was a wasted piece of ground.

All of this means that I have not had a chance to do any crafting and I am now back full in the swing of work so I shall have very little time over the next 2 weeks to escape to my craft room.

I did want to put out a post though so I thought I would share my first real piece of homemade décor – a French ribbon board to hang in my craft room to pin cards and inspiration pieces.

I am so proud of this! I looked at several sites to see how I could make one and used different ideas from each. It was relatively easy to do and I only needed to buy a couple of bits to make it. I am most pleased with the brads – I couldn’t find what I wanted so I bought gold ones and used Versamark and embossing powder to make them the colour I needed. They turned out so well I am in danger of embossing everything I own!

(I should note, in the picture the board is upside down – my husband took the photo but that’s just because he doesn’t know any better!)

Take a look at the card on the right hand side – this is the card I made for my guest post at Uniko Studio – you can check that post out here.  The card on the left was my first effort – I don’t love it but I did enjoy making it, I got very, very inky.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend! Cx

  1. What a fabulous way to display your cards and inspirational pieces, Christine … I had to look really closely to see the flower pattern was upside down in the photo … would never have noticed without being tipped off! Anita 🙂

  2. Oh well done you Christine! Sounds like you have the garden all sorted then. I have been trying to grow some veg with the kids this year and so we’ve some potatoes and beetroot growing well so far!! What a fab idea for displaying your cards. I never even thought about anything like that – mine are all just in a large boot box!! Mind due, I don’t have a craft room as yet either – just a cupboard under the stairs in true Harry Potter style!!!! Hope you are well, and look forward to seeing more of your creations when you have time xxx

  3. You have every reason to be proud of your beautiful ribbon board, Christine! I have to say it’s prettier and has more ribbon for tucking than the store-bought one I have hanging! And good job on the productive gardening over the long weekend! Hugs, Darnell
