Addicted to CAS #36

Far and Away

I have recently started following the incredibly talented Anita from My Papercraft World.  This week she has been chosen as a guest designer for the Addicted to CAS challenge blog, which I had not come across before.  Anita’s card is incredible and thoroughly inspired me to take part in the challenge.  The code word for challenge #36 is “Far Away”.

I knew I wanted to use my hot air balloon stamp which I got from Get Stamping magazine and I had recently been given some travel themed washi tape by my husband (he can’t help himself, he sees washi tape, he buys me washi tape).  I had a couple of ideas for a layout and after playing for a little settled on the above, but I had to backwards engineer the card in order to figure out how to do what I wanted.

I stamped the main image then reverse masked it to stamp the clouds.  I then masked the clouds and used Distress Ink in Evergreen Bough to ink the sky – I would have gone for a bluer colour but the washi had more of a green tone to it.  I removed the masks then added the washi, trimming it down to sit next to the image.  The sentiment I used is from the same stamp set as the balloon.

Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think, Cx

  1. What a perfect take on the Code Word, Christine … this is just such a wonderful scene! Fabulous attention to detail, brilliant masking and so beautifully sponged! What a DH you have … getting you craft supplies! Thanks so much for the shout out … and for such complementary words … so pleased to see you playing along at ATCAS! Anita 🙂

  2. Just love your attention to detail, the layout and your clever masking. When I first looked at it I thought the clouds and the balloon was the stamped image until I read further…clever you xx The card looks so clean and fresh and the washi tape is gorgeous xBeverleyx

  3. Really fabulous card. I love how you masked the clouds on your balloon.
Hmm… I think I need to get YOUR husband to talk to MY husband! Mine doesn’t have a clue what washi tape even is!! 🙂

  4. This is such a fabulous card for so many reasons. I love the layout with all that white space and two perfect components. Your colours are lovely and that sentiment is so apt.
I’m off to browse around your other creations now.
