Daisy Card

I have lots of occasions for cards coming up this month so I will be kept very busy on my days off!
First up, a birthday card for my Mother in Law.

This card was made using masking techniques along with some good old fashioned trial and error.

First I stamped the Daisy Stamp Trio stamp from Stampendous in Memento Tuxedo black ink onto white card and onto scrap paper.  I coloured the image using Promarkers then cut out the image from the scrap paper and using removable adhesive, covered the coloured image with the cut out mask.

Secondly I cut a tag shape from some more scrap paper using my Silhouette Cameo and used the negative to mask over the daisy image.

This is where the trial and error came in.  I first tried using a blending tool to colour the background with Salty Ocean Distress Ink, but because of the delicate nature of the daisy mask and the small areas I was working in, this led to some streaks.  I then went over the area using a brayer to try to create a smoother background.  This worked ok but it is not perfect so next time I would definitely opt for the brayer.

I was then able to remove both masks and I used a white gel pen to faux stitch around the tag – it felt incomplete without this.

The banner and sentiment are from Journal, The Good Life, Forever Friends collection.  These were stamped onto white card, cut out and raised up on foam pads.

I added a matt to finish which I coloured using Salty Ocean Distress Ink in order to get a good colour match to the main image.
