A new card and a new addition.

Looking back at my blog it seems that it has been just under a year since I last posted.  This last year has been a whirlwind with so much to deal with, not the least being our brand new addition, baby Stanley.  My husband and I have been busy preparing for his arrival, clearing out, decorating, buying up loads of cute baby stuff…  Crafting has very much had to take a back seat.

Stanley is now 7 weeks old and I have now tentatively been able to step back into the craft room (now a small table in the corner as apparently Stanley needed a nursery).  I have been trying to get back into the swing of things for a few weeks now but have really struggled – I am so out of practice and have had a severe lack of inspiration, plus all of my stash is packed away in boxes.  Nothing for it but to try to enter a few competitions to try to get the creativity flowing…

My first port of call was Time Out Challenges – always a favourite of mine. This week there was a fab nautical themed inspiration photo:

I love that the key element in the photo is striped so decided to make that the focal point of my card too, keeping it nice a simple to ease myself back in!

I used Clearly Besotted’s Basic Stripes and Memento ink in Nautical Blue to stamp the anchor, which was a die cut made using my Silhouette.  The frame and stars (also die cut) were inked using Distress Ink in Barn Door.  The sentiment is stamped and foiled – if I were to do this again I would use embossing powder to keep it simple as I couldn’t get the smooth finish I was looking for with the foil.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I shall aim to post more cards whenever I can get some time to myself!

  1. Many congratulations on the arrival of baby Stanley, Christine … he’s gorgeous … and so cute! Good to see you back creating … what a wonderfully CAS, crisp and fresh card … love all that glorious white space! Delighted to have you playing along with us at Time Out! Anita 🙂

    1. Thanks Anita, I feel very much out of the loop but hopefully should be able to jump back in soon. I have really missed crafting and checking out everyone’s blogs. It was so nice to be able to sit down and focus on something for me so will definitely be trying to blog regularly again. Luckily the husband is very much in agreement with me so he can take Stan off my hands when I need him too!

  2. Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful little man. He looks very alert. Good luck with trying to get crafting again, it can be hard when there are major life changes, especially if your inspiration is all packed away in boxes. Love your card and look forward to seeing more.

  3. Congratulations and Stanley is a cutie. I am so pleased we inspired you to get crafty and it sure looks like to me that your mojo is working well. I love the crisp and clean look of your card and adore how graphic you have made it. Thanks for sharing with us at TO x

  4. Congratulations Christine, Stanley is absolutely adorable!! I certainly applaud you, I would probably still be in my dressing gown at the 7 wks mark and not wanting to craft at all. I’m so happy too that you decided to join us at TIME OUT, we are honoured to have you!! Your card is a CAS dream and so perfect for the challenge. Just love that striped anchor and all that fabulous white space. I hope you find time to craft again and we would love to see your cards!!

    1. Thanks Shona, I didn’t say I wasn’t wearing my dressing gown whilst crafting! Now the little man is starting to settle into a vague routine I shall certainly be back crafting – I have missed it too much!
