This week’s challenge at The Card Concept is a colour challenge, using red, teal, white and black:
Teal and red is one of my favourite colour combinations, as demonstrated in this post here. Because of the great colour contrast I wanted to try to create a card with a more graphic style. I came across this photo and loved the design.
Any sensible person would have recreated this card using patterned paper, but I wanted to try the in-laid die cut technique. I used my Silhouette to cut the background and sentiment along with the frames, then used Spectrum Noir pens to shade the individual elements. Working from the outside in I then glued my pieces onto a backing card, like a jigsaw puzzle. As you can imagine, this took me a very long time, but I found the whole process very therapeutic and was able to piece it together in front of the telly, so it hasn’t put me off!
This graphic card is a very different style for me but I love the way the colours pop off the card. Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think. I have also set up a Facebook page to run alongside my blog (see the link on the right hand side of the page), it would be great if you could give me a ‘like’, Cx.
I can’t believe that you coloured the pieces, it’s fantabulous and such a striking graphic design!!
Love this bold, graphic design.
Oh, Christine … I love graphic … this is stunning … so beautifully done and so worth all the effort! Anita 🙂
What a beautiful card! I love the technique you’ve used – it creates such a gorgeous background. Thanks for joining us at The Card Concept!
